Welcome to one of the most beautiful and peaceful places in Lovech – Bash Bunar Alley! Located in the southeastern edge of the city, this green path follows the gentle curves of the Osam River and stretches for 2 km. Its name means “Big Spring” and it is no coincidence – here, at the foot of the majestic Nevinska Rock and Bashbunarski Rocks, nature reveals its most beautiful views.
Back in 1908, the forester Nikola Vedenkov (Vassilev) saw the potential of the place and created the alley, paved with crushed stone. Along with it, the famous fountains – Bashbunarska and “Ezeroto” were also built, which to this day quench the thirst of visitors.
Located in the southern part of the city, along the "Bash Bunar" alley, the fountain is part of a beautifully landscaped park with two natural water sources. Next to the first fountain stands a sculptural composition depicting a young man drinking water from the jug of the proudly standing Anasta.
As early as 1908, a crushed stone-covered alley was built on the site of a small path along the Osam River, known then as the "Bacho Kolyo" alley. Both fountains - the Bashbunar and the Lake - were built along it. In the mid-20th century, the place was improved, and in 1968 the sculptural composition, the work of Boris Bachev, appeared. Legend has it that whoever drinks from this water will remain forever connected to the city.
In addition to "White Anasta", here you will find another cultural treasure - the bust-monument of Nikola Vedenkov, erected in 1973 by the sculptor Evdokia Baldzhieva.
Today, "Bash Bunar" Alley is a picturesque place for walking, relaxation and sports. The shade of the centuries-old trees, the song of the birds and the murmur of the river create a feeling of tranquility that is difficult to find elsewhere. Whether you are looking for coolness in the summer heat, want to enjoy nature or simply immerse yourself in history, the alley awaits you with open arms.
Surrender to its magic and immerse yourself in a journey among the greenery of Lovech!
